EXHIBITION OF SILENT CINEMA |

The Festival’s new venture this year is an exhibition of pre and silent cinema in the Fine Foundation Gallery at Durston Castle, Swanage. Quite apart from the film programme there will be an opportunity to view objects kindly loaned from the Bill Douglas Centre at Exeter University concerning Chaplin memorabilia and pre-cinema optical instruments such as the Zoetrope and Mutoscope. In addition there will be a display on the birth of cinema, the history of the Festival and the Rex Cinema. Lastly there will be silent films running constantly throughout the exhibition. |

Our Sixteenth Annual Festival will run from Friday 12 to Saturday 27 October 2012.

 Thank you to everyone who supported the Festival this year and helped to make it such a success.
We've packed up the red carpet for 2011 - but do remember we also show films throughout the year at special events in a range of venues around Purbeck, as well as at the Rex in Wareham.
