A charming, resplendent film that champions self-determination and living life to the full. Set in present-day Tangiers, 79-year-old widow Maria Angeleโs life is turned upside down by the sudden appearance of her daughter Clara, who tells her mother she is selling the family flat to buy a new home near Madrid. A lifelong Spanish resident of Morocco, Maria has no intention of leaving and must fight to reclaim her home. From celebrated Moroccan director Maryam Touzani, Calle Mรกlaga features a magnetic performance from Spanish acting legend Carmen Maura. This highly acclaimed film is sincere and gentle, while never being condescending. It is as big-hearted and irrepressible as Maria herself.
