Description
One Fine Morning (Un beau matin) (15)
Director: Mia Hansen-Løve
Starring: Léa Seydoux, Pascal Greggory, Melvil Poupaud
Romance Drama | France | 2022
1 hr 52 mins | Subtitles
A quintessentially French film with all the best Gallic ingredients: a stunning female lead with a modishly cropped hairstyle, a passionate love affair with a married man, a literary subtext and an honesty about how life is really lived. Léa Seydoux is Sandra, a recently widowed young mother whose life becomes more complicated when she meets her late husband’s attractive colleague. She also has concerns for her father Georg, an academic who now suffers from a neurodegenerative disease. Pascal Greggory’s humane and dignified performance as Georg is subtler than – but equal to – Anthony Hopkins’ in The Father. However, unlike that film, this one has a breezy, hopeful gleam.
