The Stranger
L'Etranger
Director: François Ozon
Writer: Albert Camus, François Ozon
Actors: Benjamin Voisin, Rebecca Marder, Pierre Lottin
Rating: 15
Drama | France | 2025 | 2 hrs 2 mins
Based on Albert Camus’ novel (also known as The Outsider), this immaculate piece of cinema follows Meursault, a young man whose refusal to comply with social, political and religious norms is taken to extremes. Set in 1940 Algiers, the death of his mother sets off a chain of events that will have deadly consequences. Director François Ozon always makes beautiful films, but this might be his most ravishing yet. Here, the spare, sumptuous black and white cinematography goes hand in hand with the radical indifference of the anti-hero. This film was a huge hit in France last year, where the novel is regarded as a key cultural milestone.
A rare opportunity to experience Swanage Waterworks, a beautifully and elegantly restored tower.
Enjoy a glass of wine in the beautiful surroundings of the Waterworks Tower before the film - included in the ticket price.
