Trustee Roles โ Purbeck Film Festival
Thank you for taking the time to explore becoming a Trustee of Purbeck Film Festival.
Weโre a small, ambitious charity with a big love of film. Since the mid 90s, weโve been bringing independent, world and classic cinema to Purbeck; an area where access to these films is otherwise limited. Today, we run outdoor summer screenings and a two-week October festival across 30+ venues, welcoming audiences of over 8,000. Alongside the films, we create moments for conversation and discovery through introductions, Q&As and a programme spanning more than 20 countries.
Weโre now looking to welcome one or two new Trustees to join our Board and help shape what comes next.
The role
As a Trustee, youโll help guide the festival so that it continues to thrive and deliver public benefit. That means working with your fellow Trustees to:
- Set the overall direction and ambition of the Festival
- Shape and oversee strategy
- Ensure good financial stewardship and responsible use of resources
- Support and challenge the team (staff and volunteers)
- Make sure we meet our legal and regulatory responsibilities
- Champion the festival and its values in everything we do
- Reflect on whatโs working – and what could be even better
Because weโre a small organisation, Trustees nearly always get more hands on than in larger charities. Roles flex from year to year, and thereโs plenty of opportunity to get involved in the life of the festival itself.
Trustees are appointed for an initial three year term (renewable), with monthly meetings and additional involvement around the summer events and October festival.
Who weโre looking for
Weโre looking for thoughtful, collaborative people who care about film, community and culture. You donโt need to have been a Trustee before, what matters most is your mindset and what you bring.
Youโll likely bring:
- A genuine interest in and love for film and the arts
- Strategic thinking and sound judgement
- The ability to work well with others – and challenge constructively
- Confidence engaging with different people and perspectives
- A commitment to inclusion, fairness and public benefit
- Curiosity, energy and a willingness to contribute
Weโd particularly welcome experience in areas such as finance, digital/IT, evaluation, project delivery, working with young people, or community engagement, but none of these are essential.
Why get involved?
Purbeck Film Festival is powered by a passionate community of volunteers, audiences and partners. As a Trustee, youโll play a key role in sustaining something that people genuinely love, while helping it evolve for the future.
Interested?
If this resonates, weโd love to hear from you. Please send a short statement (around 200 words) telling us why youโd like to get involved, along with a CV.
